Selecting Acne Treatment Products That Are Available Today

By Gary Stelling

Acne is one of those human conditions that is so common and manufacturers are climbing over each other to provide solutions to to acne sufferers. Because almost everybody gets a dose of acne at some point in their lives and it is almost universal that teenagers will get it, the companies that make treatments for acne do a very good business. And because there are new teenagers hitting puberty every year, it is a business that doesn't come and go. There are a number of reasons that kids and their parents will be keen on obtaining the best possible treatments.

Of all the brands out there, Clearasil is undoubtedly the most well known. But many people report little or no results using the most common brands of medications. Part of the problem may be that acne treatments are made to target specific types of acne. So if your acne is due to oily skin and the product you are using is meant to treat dry skin acne, then you will not be effectively treating your problem - you may be even worsening it. What you need to do is understand your condition first and then purchase a product specifically designed to help treat that problem.

But even then there will be a big selection of treatment types. It is tempting to buy the cheapest option and see if it works. But you might end up spending money twice after needing to buy the expensive stuff anyway, putting you back to square one but with less dollars than you started with. And considering most teenagers deal with acne for their entire puberty period, you will want to get straight to it and find a product that works.

Of course, the way you go about finding out where quality is in an any other kind of product is a good way to select a treatment for acne too. Ask around. In any Junior High or High School, there are hundreds of kids trying various acne products.

So there's a good chance you can find someone in the same boat as you and your acne problem. So why not get together and chat about what you have both found? Then when you find a good medication, you can all share and learn from that knowledge leading to everyone being able to use that same treatment.

You should also strongly consider visiting your dermatologist for assistance. They are always getting visits from drug companies so you might find that they are well aware of all the various brands and their uses and knows which ones he or she has confidence in. A trip to the dermatologist is advisable even if your acne is mild so you can get a good handle on what type you have and how to treat it later. In many cases, your doctor will be able to let you try a number of samples from the various types of treatment so you don't have to spend a lot to try them.
